Firearms

Welcome to our Firearms page

In this section Peter & I hope to provide you with useful information, links and perhaps a little history in the vast world of Firearms.

One of the first link we will provide you, is in dealing with the MOST IMPORTANT aspect of firearms, that is Gun SAFETY!

If you are new to this sport/activity or even if you are a seasoned veteran, PLEASE check this page out and take a few minutes to go throught it, it very well could make a BIG difference in someone's life! This is the National Rifle Association site, check it out, it has volumes of information on all types of guns and shooting activities, they are far from the villain that some media makes them out to be! Just regular folks like you and me who believe in our fore father's wisdom of creating the 2nd Amendment!

This is a topic that we both are quite knowledgeable in. Both of us were introduced to the shooting world at quite a young age. For myself, I received my first "Firearm" on my tenth birthday in Waterloo, Belgium. At this point, I already had been shooting airguns for a couple of years & my father thought I was ready for the responsibility of graduating to a .22 Cal rifle, being a LEFTY didn't matter much, I just had to adjust to using right handed firearms. Peter was going through similar circumstances in his native Arizona.

By the time Peter & I met, during our sophomore year in Palm Springs High school, we were already seasoned shooters. Those were the days when high schools across the country had shooting teams on their campuses. We both are veterans of the U.S. Army and are lifetime members of the National Rifle Association, I also served that organization for several years as a Certified instructor (rifle/shotgun/pistol & home protection), later on I served in the law enforcement field for a few years.

Between the both of us, we have owned well over 200 firearms of all types, in an array of calibers ranging from .22 short to the mighty .50BMG. In other words, we hope to entertain you, inform you and perhaps even educate you with our knowledge and experiences in this fascinating hobby.

Come on in and take a look inside the Moosenosebrothers GUN RACK, you probably will want some things out of there!

The invention of gun powder is truly one that has changed our world. It's exact date is still a mystery, it is estimated to have been created in the 9th or 10th century by the Chinese, who used it primarily for firecrackers.

It was not until the early beginning of the 14th century in Europe that the first guns appeared. These were mostly cannons & mortars used in the breaking down of fortifications (castle walls etc.)

It didn't take long for man to come up with portable models, which were used to defeat the heavy armor of mounted knights, not to mention the psychological terror unleashed on those facing them.

Not only did gunpowder facilitated our ways to wage warfare, it also produced numerous beneficial uses. It afforded greater range in providing meat for our families (keep in mind that in the scheme of time, the ability to go purchase your meat in a market is still a young one), it also found uses in the field of construction etc.

Firearms have now been with us for centuries, often it was a necessity of life, in our time however & with the exception of the military & law enforcement, we mostly use them for sport, such as hunting, plinking, competition. Many folks also have started collecting High Quality Replicas, these are NOT Toys but accurately detailed firearms from different periods in history.

Another use for firearms, at least in this country, is for personal protection. In an idealistic world, law enforcement would be there to protect citizen from criminals & human predators, the harsh reality is that law enforcement most often arrive well AFTER the crime has occurred. Peter & I, along with many other citizens, believe that our welfare and that of our families may one day depend on our use of firearms, this will be a sub-topic in the near future.

Here are a few examples of the sub-topics that we will soon offer.

Gun Safety, Shooting techniques, Caring for your firearm, Ammunition & Reloading, Optic Sighting, Customizing & Engraving, Competitions, New items & Technology, History of Firearms, Schematics and much more! We also hope that you, our readers will submit stories, pictures and even questions.

Again it is our goal to make this site fun and entertaining if not an educational place for you and your family to visit. Please check back soon.
